Traveller protection

Avoid ETIAS scams and unofficial website confusion.

The clearest anti-scam rule is also the simplest current-status rule: ETIAS applications are not open yet. Any page that hides that fact deserves scrutiny.

Current ETIAS position

Verified on May 15, 2026. ETIAS is not currently in operation, no applications are being collected yet, and the expected start window remains last quarter of 2026.

Red flags before launch

As of May 15, 2026, official ETIAS applications are not being collected. Claims of live filing, guaranteed approval, hidden urgency, or special access are high-risk signals.

  • The official ETIAS channel should be verified through EU source material.
  • No intermediary can guarantee an official decision.
  • No public checkout should imply live official ETIAS filing before launch.

Fee confusion is a common tactic

Official material states an ETIAS fee of EUR 20 once operational, with exemptions for some applicants. Optional support fees must be disclosed separately and should never be presented as required official payment.

Unofficial does not always mean scam

An independent support service can be legitimate if it is transparent about identity, fees, optional nature, refund terms, privacy, and the official application path. Hidden affiliation claims are the problem.

What ETIAS Connect discloses

ETIAS Connect is independent, uses assistance@etiasconnect.eu for public support, and does not issue ETIAS decisions. Public pre-launch action remains limited to the launch-notification signup.
